Sloped Roofing Systems | Lakewood, CO

Sloped roofing — any roof with a pitch of 3:12 or greater — is the standard for residential homes and many commercial buildings throughout Colorado. The pitch of a sloped roof is its primary defense against the elements: water, snow, and ice shed naturally from the surface rather than ponding, which dramatically reduces the risk of leaks and structural damage over time.

Colorado's climate creates specific demands for sloped roofing systems. The combination of heavy snowfall, rapid temperature swings, intense UV radiation at altitude, and frequent hail events means that material selection is critical. Asphalt shingles remain the most common sloped roofing material due to their cost-effectiveness and wide availability, but Colorado homeowners and building owners increasingly choose impact-resistant shingles, metal roofing, or concrete tile for their superior durability and potential insurance premium reductions. Proper underlayment, ice and water shield installation at eaves and valleys, and adequate attic ventilation are all essential components of a long-lasting sloped roof in Colorado.

ZMAC Construction installs all major sloped roofing systems including asphalt shingles (standard and impact-resistant), metal roofing (standing seam and metal shingles), concrete and clay tile, and synthetic roofing materials. We work with leading manufacturers including GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and DECRA to provide systems with comprehensive warranties. Every sloped roof installation includes proper underlayment, ice and water shield, ventilation assessment, and all necessary flashings.

FAQ.

Sloped roofing installation involves: removal of the existing roofing system (if applicable); inspection of the roof deck for damage or deterioration; installation of ice and water shield at eaves, valleys, and penetrations; installation of synthetic underlayment over the remaining deck area; installation of the roofing material (shingles, metal panels, tile, etc.) per manufacturer specifications; installation of all ridge caps, hip caps, valley flashings, step flashings, and penetration flashings; and final inspection. ZMAC provides a detailed scope of work before project commencement and performs a thorough quality control inspection upon completion.

Sloped roofing project timelines depend on roof size, pitch, complexity, and the material being installed. A typical residential asphalt shingle replacement takes 1–3 business days. Metal roofing and tile installations may take longer due to the complexity of installation. We provide a detailed project schedule before work begins and keep you informed throughout the installation.
